US Senator Elizabeth Warren has called for congressional hearings after new revelations about a crypto deal linked to Donald Trump's entourage and a senior United Arab Emirates official. According to a journalistic investigation, an entity linked to Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, national security advisor of the Emirates, would have secretly acquired a 49% stake in World Liberty Financial for 500 million dollars, a few days before Trump's inauguration. The operation would have been signed by Eric Trump and would have allocated 187 million to Trump family entities and at least 31 million to individuals linked to Steve Witkoff, later appointed envoy for the Middle East. The deal came months before US approval to sell advanced artificial intelligence chips to the Emirates, technology previously restricted for national security reasons. Warren, together with Congresswoman Elissa Slotkin, had already called for an investigation into possible profits from foreign crypto deals linked to access to US technologies. The White House rejected the accusations, stating the absence of conflicts of interest and compliance with ethical rules.
